Fall is here.

I absolutely love this advertisement from H & M. It literally gets me excited for all of the things I love about fall...sweatshirts, leaves on the ground, bonfires, etc. I love when certain ads give you a sense experience. This ad does that for me, it allows me to feel the crisp wind of fall and it makes me want to cuddle up in what the models are wearing. I also LOVE the way that the girls hair is the same color of the leaves. I think that this adds contrast to the ad and brings warmth to the picture. I do think that the ad would be better if it was just the girl, but H & M does have a male audience as well. I would suggest doing two different advertisements, one for women and one for men. I do like the full page spread that they have going on. Having this much space allows H & M to showcase more of their fall clothes, and viewers are able to see that variety. After seeing this I am ready to go to H & M to buy some comfy fall clothing!

Looking at a brand in a different way.

This commercial was shown in my Marketing Communication and Design class here at Marquette. It was shown in class mostly because of the way it was designed. The way the commercial flowed really caught my eye, and the things they were saying caught my attention. I never realized that on every Jack Daniel's bottle there is a number 7...this commercial helped me figure that out. It also allowed me to question why the 7 was there. It made me think about the brand and the person that invented it and why this product is the way that it is. This commercial allows viewers to explore so much more than the actual product which I thought was very interesting. It goes back in time and makes the viewer a part of the story. It helped me connect with the product because it leaves an open ended question and I will always be curious whenever I see a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Doritos: The Most Intense Food

This commercial made my friend and I laugh so hard when we saw it! I guess this is another commercial that has been around for awhile and it was actually a part of Crash The Superbowl. I am guessing the Doritos company had different competitors send in their videos to win a spot during the Superbowl. This is a great move for the company because they are allowing their consumers to get involved and voice the way they view the product. This is such a funny way of making the food seem enjoyable and fun. It also shows that the company is consumer friendly and very humorous. When a company can cause anyone to laugh about something, they are going to turn to that company because they hit them emotionally. I can't believe I haven't seen it until now, because it is something that definitely grabbed my attention. Whenever I see Doritos now, I will definitely think of this commercial.

I might buy one now!

After looking this up on YouTube, I realized this commercial has been out for awhile, but I haven't seen it until now. Temper Pedic did a great job on getting my attention with this commercial. It's funny, because this isn't even something I need right now, but later on when I'm ready to buy my own bed I'll remember this company. The fact that you are able to talk to customers that already have used this says a lot about the company. The customers trust Temper Pedic and are willing to take time to state their opinion about the mattress. Whenever buying something I find it important to get opinions from others who have experienced the product themselves. Being able to talk with their customers will help bring confidence to others purchasing decisions. I definitely applaud Temper Pedic on this, I think they know the way to market to audiences because trust is important when you are buying something as important as a mattress.

Oh Kanye...

Well it's been a year since Kanye West stole the spotlight from one of my favorite artists, Taylor Swift. A year later, he is FINALLY apologizing....ON TWITTER!!!! Why twitter?!?! I'm not sure if he's trying to market himself in a postive way before his performance on the VMAs or what...but personally I'm not buying it. He ruined a huge moment for her and it's not acceptable. I find it funny that he has to tweet to make himself look better, he can't be a man and apologize to her in person. He tried to make it all dramatic by tweeting away for three whole hours, but as a fan of Taylor the apology is not accepted. Kanye, if you would have came out and aplogized in person a couple months after the incident, that would have been marketing yourself in the right way. Actually not going on stage at all and keeping your mouth shut would have been marketing yourself in the right way. I hope Taylor Swift wins more VMAs than Kanye ever has and I hope people will applaud her for the way she acted after this all happened. As for Kanye, this is all I have to say...TEAM TAYLOR!!!!!

A video I wish I would have found years ago

Dove Amy

I came across this video last semester and it literally warmed my heart. It brought me back to my middle school and high school years when I wasn't very happy with body or myself. I still remember always wanting to be something more than what I was...prettier, smarter, skinnier. It took me awhile to become content with my body and I think that is something a lot of young girls struggle with. I believe this video is trying to state that we are our worst critic, we always find a million things to critic when in reality there is absolutely nothing wrong.

I find the video so inspirational to teenage girls because they need to realize they are beautiful no matter what. I think that Dove did a great job with this video because it causes viewers to connect with the situation and it provokes emotion. Dove's beauty campaign can be the first step in stopping insecurity among women. Putting their videos on the web is great because their messages can spread like wildfire. I love the fact that it is something you can send to a friend or family member to brighten up their day. I think that every woman should watch this video as a reminder to embrace not only the beauty of others, but the beauty of themselves.
